Education: Studied Archaeology at the Department of Archaeology in Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of History (1956); completed her postgraduate course at the Institute of Archaeology of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1961)

PhD: Glass, stone and metal jewellery of the North Caucasus and Crimea in the 4^th– 9^th  centuries as a historical source (1962). Academic Supervisor A.P. Smirnov

Doctoral Thesis (The Higher Doctorate): Central Ciscaucasus in the Ancient and Early Middle Ages: Caucasian Substrate and movements of Iranian-speaking tribes (1988)

Key research interests: Archaeology of the Caucasus in the Early Iron Age and Early Middle Ages; Mathematical and statistical methods in archaeology; History of domestication of the horse  and horse breeding; Glassmaking and bead production in the Early Middle Ages; Human genetics and genogeography to research into ethnogenesis and ancient migrations
