Education: Studied Archaeology at the Department of Archaeology in Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of History (1993); completed his postgraduate course there (1997)

PhD: Bronze boilers of the Early Iron Age as a source on history and culture of ancient tribes of the Lower Volga and Southern Urals (2000)

Key research interests: Archaeology of ancient nomads of the Eurasian steppes of the Early Iron Age; Savromat-Sarmatian archaeology; History of bronze casting; Roman imported products in the south of Russia; European and Asian influences on the culture of the early nomads of southern Eastern Europe

Other Professional Activities: Intern at the Eurasian branch of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) in Berlin (1997–2000); Researcher at the archaeological laboratory of the Japanese Institute of Paleological Studies, Kyoto (2001–2004); Corresponding member of the DAI (since 2012)
