Dear colleagues!
We inform you of the continuation of the workshop "Methodological aspects of ancient and medieval cremations study", which is scheduled for November 9, 2021 in a mixed format (in person at the IA RAS (Moscow, St. Dm. Ulyanov 19) and on-line, using zoom platform). Time-limit: report – 20 minutes, discussion of the report and questions – 10 minutes.
We suggest the following topics for discussion at the next meeting:
- Field methods for studying archaeological sites with cremations and cremated remains.
- Cremations in bicultural traditions
- Forms of cremations storage and cataloguing.
We invite you to participate in the discussion of these topics as both speakers and panelists. We ask you to fill in a short form to apply.
Applications are accepted until 15/10/2021. We have been organising the seminar every year since 2014 and want to continue this tradition, increasing the opportunities to introduce a wider professional audience to methods and approaches for studying human and animal remains transformed by fire, as well as archaeological monuments incorporating these materials. It is therefore we plan to publish abstracts of this year: electronically before the event and in hard copy up to the end of 2021. We kindly ask participants to prepare and send their abstracts of not more than 1000 symbols in length until 10/15/2021.
